UPDATE: More than 300 Buckets of Supplies Distributed to Barnegat, Surrounding Areas

Batteries, flashlights, cleaning supplies and other items were available.

Crediting what they are calling "overwhelming community support," during a drive Saturday, the Barnegat Police Department PBA 296, OPEIU 32, and FOP 217 distributed more than 300 buckets filled with cleaning and more than 100 bags of cosmetic and personal hygiene products to the Barnegat, Long Beach Island and Toms River areas yesterday.

Available items included batteries, flashlights, cleaning supplies, non-prescription medications, non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products, diapers, extension cords, dog/cat food, and paper products.

Any Sandy victims were encouraged to "help themselves to what they need," according to a statement from Barnegat Police.

Please bring all the canned and non perishable foor and other needed items to the Barnegat Police Dept. This is when we help our own neighbors in need. My UU church has donated food for residents and animals plus personal care products. Our Public Works employees, police, and publick officias did their best to help us through the storm and now we need each other. maxine
