Barnegat Resident Achieves Eagle Scout Honor
Christopher K. Brower designed a walking tour of Barnegat for his project.
At a special Eagle Court of Honor to be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, Christopher K. Brower, of Barnegat, will earn the highest rank a Boy Scout can achieve, that of Eagle Scout.
To earn this honor, Brower had to demonstrate his leadership ability by completing a project to benefit his community, which was a walking tour of Barnegat that highlights historic buildings of downtown Barnegat and other Boy Scouts’ Eagle Projects. Parts of the walk include the Barnegat Historical Society’s Museum and Village, and the Barnegat Rail Trail.
The project included planning the tour route, obtaining permission from town authorities and building owners to place signs, soliciting donations of materials and money, creating and placing signs with assistance from Troop 26 members, compiling information and creating a brochure for the tour, and obtaining sponsorship of the project from the Barnegat Historical Society.
Brower has camped with his troop at summer camps up and down the East Coast. He has participated in Scouting for Food and has assisted in a number of other Eagle Scout projects. He received recognition for his participation in evacuation efforts during Hurricane Irene in 2011.
Presently a freshman at Monmouth University, Brower currently has a part-time position in Monmouth University’s English Department. His future plans include obtaining a master’s degree in History with an emphasis on studying World War II. His ultimate goal is to become a museum curator, researcher, and writer of history.
During his high school days, he attended The Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science, where he received a number of awards, including recognition for four years of participation in Project Terrapin at the school. He also received the School Counts Gold Award from the NJ Chamber of Commerce. He also received recognition from the Mariner’s Lodge #150 in Barnegat for his community service.
His hobbies include Miniature War gaming and reading about World War II.

The Barnegat Historical Society is proud of Christopher Brower’s achievements. The society was thrilled when Chris presented the concept for the self-guided walking tour as his Eagle Scout project and requested our sponsorship. The creation of the tour was no small accomplishment as it required months of research, planning and hands-on labor. However, the society knew Chris was up to the task as he has been an active member of our society since he was a child. Through the years he has been a helpful volunteer at village clean-up projects and assisting at our annual flea markets, quilt show and various other projects.

The Boy Scouts are a homophobic, atheistophobic organization. They are not something someone should be proud of belonging to. The Boys and Girls Club of America is an organization that better prepares young people for real life.

Apparently my previous post was removed because some people did not like me calling attention to the fact that the Boy Scouts discriminate against homosexuals and atheists. They should get no tax money, special benefits or government awards until they change this policy.

The Casino Control Commission which uses parking surcharges on Casino Parking donated thousands of dollars to the Boy Scouts. They clearly have a religious agenda yet refuse to register as a religion.
