UPDATE: Barnegat Schools Mechanic Dies; Suffered 'Medical Event' During New Egypt Race
No word on cause of death
The lead mechanic for the Barnegat School District died Sunday morning after he experienced a medical emergency at the New Egypt Speedway, according to the Barnegat Township School District.
The district on Monday identified the man as Scott Doty of Barnegat, who worked as the lead mechanic and was racing a car at the speedway when the incident occurred.
Sgt. Brian Polite of the State Police said Doty suffered a "medical event" while racing at the speedway. He then came to a stop at the inside barrier of the raceway.
The barrier sustained minor damage, but not the car, Polite said.
Doty was transported to an area hospital and died Sunday morning, Polite said.
State Police did not confirm a cause of death. Saturday’s event was the Romano Memorial, according to the speedway's website.
Doty was a well-respected, long-time employee of the district whom friends were saluting Monday as a "wonderful friend, father and husband."

A wonderful friend, father and husband has been taken away from all of us way too early in life. He will so be missed by everyone he touched. RIP Scott. Look over and protect your family like we all know you will.

I only met Scott once, while doing business with Barnegat Twp. . . . sorry to hear this. You still have'nt said anything on that SUICDE over on Warren Ave, in Lacey Twp. Thought you reported ALL the news of Lacey. your starting to be like the newspapers, only post what 'you' want to post . . . . how about ALL the stuff going on.

To the ignorant a-hole stretch113 you spelled suicide wrong first of all, secondly have some compassion for the family of the person. You are an insensitive jerk and sometimes things don't need to be printed about. For what reason does this need to be published on the patch....you seem to have the info already so shut up! I knew this person and you should be ashamed of yourself. I shall hope that you really understand that this person had plenty of family and friends that have a lot on their minds right now and this does not need to be on the patch.

Maybe he would listen if you actually spoke to him like a human being, instead of cursing at him. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar, after all.
Also you're right, this IS the patch... it's just a website. I wouldn't worry so much about one person's not-so-considerate comment.
