Beach Haven To Get $3.6 Million In Hurricane Aid

Senators announce second round of grants to fund cleanup

Beach Haven will soon get $3,643,769 for debris removal and cleanup resulting from Hurricane Sandy, U.S. Sens. Frank R. Lautenberg and Robert Menendez, both D-N.J., accounced Friday.

The two senators  announced the second round of federal funding to help reimburse New Jersey municipalities for cleanup work completed in the wake of Sandy.

This round of funding includes more than $12.9 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency funding to reimburse local governments for debris removal in Middletown, Howell, Eatontown, Asbury Park, Long Branch, and Beach Haven.

In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, local governments acted quickly to keep families and communities safe, and this federal funding will help ease the burden of recovery costs for municipalities, said Lautenberg, vice chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security, which funds FEMA.

“These federal grants will help municipalities recover, but there is much more work to be done to ensure that our state can rebuild stronger than ever. We will continue working with state and local governments to provide federal resources for cities and towns across New Jersey," he said.

FEMA is reimbursing local governments for the following debris removal costs:

  • $4,062,255 for Middletown
  • $1,312,500 for Howell
  • $1,506,000 for Eatontown
  • $1,399,012 for Asbury Park
  • $3,643,769 for Beach Haven
  • $1,055,475 for Long Branch

FEMA awards these grants on a rolling basis after receiving applications from the state, which coordinates the process with local governments. These grants are the second of more rounds of municipal FEMA reimbursements to be announced.

Well, that should just about cover everything in Beach Haven, we can wrap that up now. How's about a tent and a few Hershey bars to help 'em get thru the winter. I guess it was only U.S. Sens. Frank R. Lautenberg and Robert Menendez, both D-N.J., that pulled this off. No reason to mention any "R's" like, Jon Runyan, R-NJ. and that old fat "R"..."oldwhatshisname", Chris Christie?
