Boat Near LBI Catches Fire; Two People Evacuated

Coast Guard responded to fire on Friday

The Coast Guard responded to a boat fire near Long Beach Friday, officials said.

Crewmembers from Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light launched aboard a 25-foot Response Boat—Small to respond to a 25-foot boat on fire in the Intracoastal Waterway near the Loveladies Harbor development of Long Beach Township.

Two people who were aboard the 25-foot boat when it caught fire were successful evacuated. The cause of the fire is unknown.

The New Jersey State Police also responded, and TowBoat U.S. was making arrangements to tow the boat, officials said.
