Bus Administrator: No Serious Injuries in Accident Involving Southern Cheerleaders

Five students were taken to Newton Hospital

A bus carrying cheerleaders from the Southern Regional School District to a cheer camp in the Poconos was involved in a head-on collision this morning.

Southern Regional Bus Administrator Michael Kane said another car crossed an intersection at Route 206 in Stanhope, NJ and skidded into the bus, causing minor injuries in five of the students. The students, one of the cheerleading coaches and the bus driver  were taken to area hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.  The remaining students continued onto a cheer camp in the Poconos.

Stay tuned for updates from the Patch as more details become available.

The accident was 8 students, bus driver, and coach. All are doing fine, thank god but they went to Dover NJ hospital (St Claires) and Hackettstown , NJ Hospital. The accident was in NJ not PA, the camp is PA. The picture of the bus is not accurate, no snow! Just want to give all the Southern Cheerleaders a SHOUT... They handled the situation like adults and the Coaches were AWESOME.... Thank you to the Hospitals and staff for taking care of our girls and Coach M.
