Dedication of Memorial Expected Nov. 3
Barnegat Township officials said beam from World Trade Center will likely be placed today.
Weather permitting, a beam from the World Trade Center is expected to be placed today in front of Barnegat Township hall.
Mayor Al Cirulli said the beam placement, and other finishing touches to a planned 9/11 memorial should make it possible to hold a dedication of the memorial by Nov. 3.
The memorial was originally planned to be donated on Sept. 11, but since a majority of the work on the project was being done by volunteers, the workers' paid jobs took priority, pushing the deadline back, township officials have said.
Working with officials from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and others in town, township officials obtained the beam from the World Trade Center.
This is the second such memorial in the town. Another, donated last year, sits on the Barnegat Township High School football field, which is not easily accessible to people who have disabilities because of its location on the school's campus.

The integrity and spirit of the memory of 9/11 is being demeaned by this cheap, embarrassing political campaign stunt. Shame on the Barnegat Township Committee for violating an American tragedy. As late as this memorial dedication is in taking place, there is no reason it can’t be dedicated a week or two after the 11/6/12 election, like around Veteran’s Day.

I agree 100% with Mac. This is clearly an exploitation of a national tragedy for the hope of political gain. I'm looking forward to sending the incumbents my own message on Election Day.
