One would think that FEMA and SBA would work the holiday so people who need help wouldn't have to take another vacation day!! Typical bureaucracy!!

They should close them for good until FEMA and the SBA develop policies that actually help people.

Will he FEMA employees be paid for not passing out irrelevant and outdated manuals that do not begin to address the plight of middle class homeowners that are the backbone of and built and paid for the Jersey Shore?

Fema should just stay out , their name alone has stressed a multitude of communities to no end . A perfect example of a government entitie that can be horrible at what they do, yet be allowed to keep running, and bankrupt whole communities to make up for their financial failures. If a citizen did that,we would be jobless or in jail

this was a storm that did not happen in 100yrs. When mother nature comes, there are no barriers. They are forcing some of us to raise our homes, that only need repairs, so the next storm will not devastate Fema's pocket and flood insurances. I understand the homes that have to be rebuilt to follow code, but the small homes, bunglows, that need repair, just repair them. Can you vision the Jersey Shore at the elevations mandated by Fema. Their main objective should be rebuilding the dunes on the beach, that saved many communities. Fema is making a mistake by the flood zones,if water don't flood you, the high winds will. People that do not have the means to raise their homes, especially homeowers with a high morgage, will just walk away, which now is an issue with our taxes and with the banks.
We are the people that contribute to every dollar that the government has, and we should have say in what we want to do with our homes, Fema should not mandate what we do, especially the people without flood insurance and did not get anything from Fema, we are on our own. Let us move foward and get our homes repaired so we can live in them and enjoy our beach homes.

@diane amborsino, has it occurred to you that maybe the powers that be don't want small houses and bungalows? Perhaps what they have in mind is a high scale luxury waterfront full of luxury condominiums, high end hotels and convention centers. Didn't you see how well that worked out in Atlantic City?

Just wait - Could you ever immagine what would happen if a Town had to file bankruptcey because of Sandy. heres a quick time line to take a look at...

Storm hits 11/12 - 100 - 200 homes lost. 500+ homes dammaged
1/13 - homes lost - insurence claims + FEMA begins
6/13 insureance still playing games, FEMA unable to help 1000 people in distress.
6/13 property taxes begin to increase for all residents
12/13 200 people who could not afford their homes, because failed FEMA programs, failed Insurence agreements, Failed Mortgage company - not working with the home owner - people begin to walk away to let their dammaged homes.. block by block of emptyness.
6/2014 another 500- 700++ people who could not afford their property tax increase = after endless run around games looking for help - trying to make ends meet - give up - also begin walked from their houses.. ..?
- Forclosures begin to happen all over town and sorunding towns who were also affected,
Attorneys get hit with people filling Bankruptcies
by 2015 - over 1000 - 2000 people - would have left their homes and walked away.. leaving towns to fall into Bankruptcey as well.
This is NJ, something like this can happen... now it's up to the locals to avoid something like this from ever happening.

God forbid they don't get off on Presidents Day. Seems like this would be a good day for those who actually have this day off to be able to go meet w/ FEMA. FEMA is a disater and this is exactly why Mitt Romney wanted to get rid of it and have disaster assistance be set up at the state level.

Please readers continue to dig out food, clothing, housewares that are not needed. FEMA shelters and food pantry's are almost barren of all types of goods. After 4 months, with no resolution and monies that are still not received and Sandy victims continue to need help.
Please donate what ever you can to help out.

Thank You !!

What about those FEMA CAMPS ??? they were completed over 2 years ago in NJ, why did we have people go thre.? you have over 200 housing units avail.? Why did FEMA spend thousands into refurbishing every concentration camp in the US.? FEMA once said, they would be used durring a dissaster.? well what about SANDY?

FEMA tried to put us in drug den hotels, where shootings and stabings are the norm. Heard these flea dens were getting $1000. a week from FEMA . No thanks, I will save our lives by not going there and bring home bed bugs too !!

I was a Mitt Romney supporter when he was in the republican primary in 2007-2008.
Not a supporter the last election. But I think I agree with him on 1 statement..FEMA is a waste of taxpayer money..It was a waste of money during Katrina..And will always be a waste of tax payer money
