It's being called a contest of speed ... not quantity.
Spiaggia e Luna, at 696 E. Bay Ave. in Barnegat, will hold a pizza eating contest on Saturday, between 12 and 5 p.m.
Each contestant will be given a 16-inch pie to consume "the fastest way you can," according to the restaurant.
Water will be provided during the eating. Regurgitation will mean disqualification, according to the restaurant.

Isn't this a little sophomoric even for Barnegat? The true major league eating contest happens at Nathan's in Coney Island, not at a second-rate mozzarella joint in Barnegat, NJ.
Len Morano versus Charlie "God Bless Everyone" Giles would be fun to watch!

this is for the barnegat food panrty, all proceeds will go to them.so if you think helping the food pantry is "sophomoric" there is something wrong and if my restaurant is a second-rate mozzarella joint YOU HAVE NO TASTE! by the way this patch is the worst please keep my restaurant off this site!!!!!

I think this is an excellent way to show support for our Community from the local business establishments. I know that Spiaggia e Luna has actively supported many local clubs and events and they do an excellent job with their catering and contributions. My wife and I have eaten at their restaurant and their pizza parlor and we thoroughly enjoy their food and pizza and the atmosphere of their restaurant. We have been dining there since they opened and we will continue to dine at one of the best restaurants in Ocean County. Leave politics out of dining establishments and stupidity out of constructive comments.
