Fry It Up at Barnegat Library Monday

"Teens Cook" program offers a chance to fry pickles, Twinkies

You can pretty much fry anything. It likely will be delicious.

A fun program for teens will explore what the fried form of popular treats taste like, in a special program at the Barnegat Branch of the Ocean County Library on Monday.

"Teens Cook! If You Fry It, They Will Come" is open to teen patrons of the library, at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6.

The chance to fry up pickles, Twinkies, Oreos and more is on the menu. Teens will learn cooking safety and get to sample the treats.

The program is open to those aged 12 to 18. Registration is required, so call the library at 609-698-3331. You can also register online.

SHAME on the OC Library System! You decide to host a series of programs for kids about food and you choose deep frying already-horribly-unhealthy-processed-fatty foods as the theme? Fantastic job addressing the obesity problem and getting kids to learn about, cook, and ENJOY eating HEALTHY foods! yet another reason I need to get out of this backwards county...

Parents - send a message to the library and DO NOT register your kids for this terribly ignorant and harmful event.

The idea of a kids cooking class is great.
Teaching them to fry Twinkies? Not so much.
