'Festival of the Sea,' A Local Summer Tradition, Begins Wednesday
St. Francis Carnival is a southern Ocean County tradition
LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP – With food and fun for all ages, St. Francis Community Center will host its annual Festival of the Sea Carnival beginning Wednesday and running through Sunday night.
The carnival will be held on the St. Francis Church Grounds, 4700 Long Beach Blvd. in the township's Brant Beach section.
The carnival will be open from 6-10 p.m. each night, weather permitting, with P.O.P. (Pay One Price) bracelets available for $20 each night for all rides all night long.
There will be rides for all ages as well as games of chance where you can win those carnival keepsakes and stuffed animals.
For those feeling really lucky there will be a Super Progressive 50/50 with the winner drawn on Sunday night. Tickets are $2 each or a book of six for $10 and will available at the front desk of the Community Center and at the Festival.
There will also be a table set up for St. Francis’s annual multi-car raffle. This year there are a variety of cars to choose from with two Honda Accord LXs, two Ford Mustangs, a Ford Escape and a Ford F150 pick up truck. A book of tickets is $100 and only 3,000 books will be sold. The drawing for all the cars will be Oct. 6, 2012 right after the center’s Spaghetti Dinner.
In addition to all the great sweet treats such as funnel cake, cotton candy and ice cream; local volunteers and service organizations will be offering delicious food items like sausage and peppers, burgers and hot dogs.
