UPDATE: Eyewitness Account of Beach Haven West
Re-entry began at noon today.
Two hours after residents in the Beach Haven West section of Stafford began to reenter their homes, police issued a statement noting this area is "open to residents only by personal vehicle with the exception of South Millcreek Rd. beyond the intersection of Jonathan Dr."
According to an eyewitness, residents of South Mill Creek Road were shuttled by bus today, and walked from the drop off/pick up points to and from their residences.
Patch writer Steve Moran, who lives in Beach Haven West, called in this report: "Pretty much anything on a slab has suffered major damage, any low-lying old ranches. It is pretty much a guessing game as to whose boat is in your yard and who it belonged to it. But People are taking it in stride. Some are amazed, some are shocked, some are finding the humor in it."
Moran noted there is debris strewn throughout the development, including on Mill Creek Road. He said hot tubs, shingles and furniture can be "seen everywhere."
Residents must present proof of residency or ownership of the residence, including a driver’s license containing property address and or a tax or Utility bill containing property address. Any resident not in possession of an acceptable form of ID must report to Stafford Town Hall to obtain from the tax office documentation of ownership.
Only two adults per residence are being permitted, and no children.
Police noted that entry is for preliminary damage assessment and retrieval of personal items/necessities that people can carry out by hand, and that only one visit per day would be permitted.
In other news, Stafford Public works announced that household trash and storm debris will start today on the following streets:
Pattie Joe Lane
