Narcotics Surveillance Leads to Heroin Arrests

One had to be brought to Southern Ocean Medical Center after allegedly ingesting 10 bags.

Barnegat police conducting a surveillance on Denville Street in response to reports of drug activity in the area observed a heroin transaction, which led to the arrests of three people.

On December 27 at 4 p.m., members of the Barnegat Police Department Narcotics Unit arrested Phillip Shiner, 23, of Barnegat, Taylor Beers, 26, of Barnegat, and Ryan Territo, 21, of Waretown on drug charges after allegedly observing Shiner purchase heroin from Beers and Territo.

Officers made contact with Shiner and attempted to place him under arrest at which point Shiner resisted arrest. During the time he was resisting the officer's control, Shiner ingested 10 bags of heroin.

Shiner, who was also found to be in possession of Flexeril, was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center for treatment and observation. He was served with complaints for possession of heroin (3rd degree), two counts of possession of prescription legend pills (4th degree), resisting arrest (4th degree), and tampering with evidence (4th degree).

Beers and Territo were both charged with possession of heroin (3rd degree), possession of heroin with intent to distribute (3rd degree), and distribution of heroin (3rd degree).

Beers was lodged in the Ocean County Jail in default of $30,000 bail.

Territo was lodged in Ocean County Jail in default of $22,500 bail.

Yet another example of the excellence manifested by the Barnegat PD.

Anybody who thinks Barnegat does not have drug trafficking lives with their head in the sand. And the sale and use of illegal substances is at the root of many other crimes.

Junkies hungry for a fix have no hesitation about breaking into cars and homes. We need to be enthusiastic in supporting our Police Department.

Thanks to Chief Arthur Drexler and the men and women who wear the shield and protect all of us.

I don't know if excellence is the word. They did thier job, they were tipped off, these dopey kids were doing this in plain sight, seems like this was an easy one for the cops.
