A 69-year-old West Paterson woman was struck by a car diven by an East Hanover woman on Monday.

Stafford Township Police said the incident took place in the parking lot of TJ Maxx, located at 601 Washington Avenue.

Investigation revealed that the 69-year-old woman was struck by a red Toyota sport utility vehicle driven by Katheryn Piechy, 67, as she attempted to walk across the street within the crosswalk.

Plechy was issued a summons for careless driving and for failing to yield to a pedestrian within a crosswalk.

Police said the victim sustained serious injuries to her leg, neck, head , and back and was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center via Stafford EMS. Ptl. Drew Smith is the investigating officer.
