PHOTO GALLERY: Barnegat Township Swears in New Mayor, Committee Members
New mayor, two new committee members thank community for their support.
For 2013, Len Morano will be serving the township as Mayor while Susan Conway will be Deputy Mayor. Both people were sworn in at Tuesday’s annual reorganization meeting.
Morano is taking on the role after serving on the Committee for 17 years.
In addition to mayor and deputy mayor nominations, Elaine Taylor was also sworn in as a committee member.
Taylor is a former Board of Education member and stay-at-home mother and Conway, who grew up in Barnegat, works as an attorney in Northern New Jersey. Conway served on a charter commission to re-examine the form of government in town several years ago.
Conway said that she and Taylor's immediate plans involve going over the budget with a "fine tooth comb" to see if there are any areas that should be tightened up.

Elaine,Sue and Lenny, now the hard work starts. I hope Marty and Al will be there own men and do what is right for this Town. I didn't like the way they voted at this meeting. Let's go people, man up and vote for Barnegat not always your party.

Election day is history and the people have spoken. The time for political monkeyshines are over.
Mr. Morano, you now have the keys to the city. The days of your abstentions should be history. What you do in the first couple of months of your administration will tell residents whether or not you are fit to command. It is left to you to galvanize your democratic majority and work for the good of all townspeople.
You have often used the slogan "taxbusters." The gavel is in your hands. Do not use it to smash walnuts. Use it to smash the ridiculous Barnegat tax burden. You asked for the center seat and got it. Now we wait to see what you will do with it.
Do not be timid. Reach out to competent members of the community for advice and assistance. Appointing the usual political slugs will change nothing. Rally those who have something to offer no matter what their political affiliation.
Mr. Morano, you can be a hero or a zero.
Your choice, Mr. Mayor.
Best of luck.
