POLL: What Is The Worst Road Intersection In Barnegat?
Vote for what you believe is the hardest, most difficult crossroad to navigate through
Barnegat is known for its narrow roads, occasional heavy traffic, cookie-cutter homes and country-fried living. But as the township has grown, so has the traffic.
Intersections that once allowed for simple right and left turns now have traffic backing up for blocks.
We're asking people to vote for what they believe is the worst intersection in town. Please see our poll below and vote. If you believe there are other intersections we should note, let us know in the comments.
The polling will run until Wednesday.
(Thanks to Tommy P. for this suggestion!)

The Lighthouse / Bay Ave. intersection is terrible. We wait forever for that light to change because of the unnecessary signal when no one goes the other way for several minutes! Also, delayed green was not necessary over there, as there's practically never any cars waiting on the other side. Someone needs to do something about the bad timing on that light.

People who learned to drive from a Toms River Soccer Mom, learned Courtesy in North Jersey, and Learned Morals in New York continue to turn across a double yellow line AND three lanes of traffic to enter WalGreens from Barnegat Boulevard. This is an extremely dangerous situation and our "TRAFFIC SAFETY" police cars just drive on by - Is Walgreens somehow "Connected" ?

Didn't you notice EVERY ONE of these were some Genius redesign Everything in this town became an "Arrow" turn all day all night. At 3am you wait to make a left onto lighthouse from bay! or from Barnegat Blvd onto Bay, No right on red at 4 am?
It's all stupid. Waste of gas . Insults the intelligence of every driving resident. Maybe someone wants us to grow up like Brick when we get bigger! They make tons of money by confusing drivers, The cops were trained which intersections to hang out on to the most" mistaken" illegal turns. Fact.
But Barnegat doesn't do it for the money, they do it because they really think we can't make a safe and intelligent decision....... Maybe they're right.

I think the traffic design is due to all the old folks we have in town. These seasoned citizens seem barely capable of basic navigation, never mind expecting them to read and observe signs as complicated as "No Turn on Red 7:00AM - 7:00PM". Aside from the Geezer contingent, just sit and watch the rest of the locals trying to negotiate the 2 lane turns around town. If the BPD really wants to generate some revenue there is a fortune to be made writing tickets for "Failure to maintain lane" at these intersections! Of course they'd have to take some time off from writing speeding & cell phone tickets to do this or maybe even (gasp) have one of the bosses hit the streets!

The intersection of W. Bay A ve leading into Genardi's and W. Bay Ave and Sandpiper leading into Heritage Bay have had bad accidents. Speeding and going through red lights are the main causes of the accidents. BPD have been notified to monitor this intersection to no avail.

If you noticed the stafford crossing lights are traffic timed
When someone approaches the intersection the light changes senses no more traffic and goes back to the main thorp fare barnegat keeps is on a timer even when there's no traffic......
