Southern Regional Middle School hosted a traditional Thanksgiving Day meal Nov. 22 from noon to 3 p.m.
Southern officials noted this event was open to anyone, including the emergency responders who have rallied to help the Stafford area following Sandy.
The event was sponsored by Mud City Crab House, Black-Eyed Susans Cafe, Shore Fire Grille, Taylor Made Cabinets, Southern Regional Education Foundation, David's Dream and Believe Cancer Foundation, Jetty, and the Boy and Girl Scouts of New Jersey.
Kate Krier, a Stafford resident, volunteered to help out with the effort, and she said "the support in the community is amazing. Hundreds of people have reached out in a very short period of time, with food, their time, and supplies."
Krier gave total credit for coordinating the event to Melanie Magaziner, a Mallard Island resident who has been coordinating all efforts involving food collection.
Donation checks can be made out to Southern Regional Education Foundation, and can be mailed to Mud City, 1185 E. Bay Ave, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
