Southern Regional Accepts Donation from Kansas City Ford Assembly Plant
Some of the workers are originally from Ocean County.

Southern Regional High School recently accepted a donation for storm relief from the Kansas City, Missouri Ford Assembly Plant.
On Monday, Nov. 19, a 5 x 8 truck filled with items collected from the United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 249 was driven cross country by four drivers: Donn Kittell, Vernon Kittell, Scott Kiel and Janet Sorrentino.
When asked why they did this, their response was: “This is our home. We wanted to do something to help. It is really hard to be so far away and see what has happened to our childhood places.”
All four of the drivers are originally from Ocean County. They saw what the tornadoes in their own state in 2011 did to Joplin, Missouri and how much it meant to them to get help.
Students helped unload and will inventory the items until they can be distributed to those in need. Southern Regional English teacher, Mrs. Nancy Adams organized the donation at the High School.
Representatives from Causeway Ford were on hand to extend an additional thank you to the drivers.
Dave Wintrode, Jr., Joe Stroffolino, Paul Shutak and Jason Halliday presented the drivers with a thank you to all of the Ford assembly plant workers that donated.
