State Trooper Rescues Little Egg Harbor Woman From Car Following Parkway Collision
The collision took place over night at mile marker 47.7.
A State Trooper rescued a woman from her car just before it became engulfed in flames early Friday morning, Oct. 12, after her car struck his police vehicle on the Garden State Parkway, State Police said Friday morning.
Linsey Ruscoe, of Little Egg Harbor Township, struck Trooper Greg Behnke's police car after she drove her Volkswagen Beetle into the left lane, which was closed due to construction at mile marker 47.7 in Port Republic at 12:02 a.m., according to police.
Behnke noticed the back of Ruscoe's car was on fire as she continued to move past his vehicle. Although she continued moving, it was not a hit-and-run, police said.
Behnke then stopped the car, and removed her before it became engulfed in flames, police said. Both were taken to Southern Ocean County Hospital in Stafford for minor injuries, police said.
The accident remains under investigation.

Probably texting! See it way too often on the parkway, really like when a driver has a book or news paper sprawled across the steering wheel!
