Construction of Seaside Heights' new boardwalk is underway. Crews are currently installing 25-foot long wooden pilings to help support the new boards. In all, more than 1,500 pilings are expected to be installed.

The actually process of installing pilings is relatively simple - following the planning, measuring and surveying, that is. A large drill bores deep into the beach while a second heavy machine lowers the pilings into place while its pile driver attachment hammers it into the ground.

About 64 pilings are expected to be installed each day.

Seaside's boardwalk is expected to be rebuilt on or before May 10.

Seaside is and always will be a dump. 9 months of year is low income motel rentals spreading bed bugs. Beer cans and cigarettes sales thrive.

Summer is 60% white trash and 25% bums & punks.

That leaves 15% who just want a nice beach and must foot the bill.

Shame it's that way.

Seaside is what it is, like it or not it is here to stay. Seaside is no more of a family resort than Las Vegas is. There are plenty of more family oriented Jersey shore towns that are more suited for the quiet family atmosphere, if that is what you are seeking. I know a lot of people that have a lot of fun in seaside; don't like it go to Pt Pleasant. Seaside is a wild and crazy fun ride not for the weak of heart or moral of character LOL
