So true Hamster, aren't you having the same trouble with the tainted genes in your family tree rightRead More now? Hope that gets worked out, but you really need to start looking outside the family! Praying for you still, happy Easter!
Gus Sotirakis April 19, 2014 at 03:21 pm
Gene pools are tainted from any animal on earth, especially humans. Why is the pit singled out?Read More Humans kill at a far more alarming rate than Pits. Other dogs kill too, pits make headlines. Many dogs are also mistaken for pits. I read an article of a pit killing someone but 3 days later it came out that it was a Doberman. 99 % of the pits out there are perfectly friendly. Pit haters are uneducated in the facts.
Boss Hogg April 19, 2014 at 03:37 pm
Gus, I think we are all just uneducated, period.

Jesus, is this ridiculous blog still happening?

JD You're 100% correct about the person walking the street. It's the owner of the dogsRead More responsibility. The mass breeding of the Pit Bull has also contributed to the problem. A big contributor to this Pit Bull mania was Sports Illustrated. In 1987 they put a pit baring its teeth on the cover with the headline "Beware of this dog". This attracted a lot of types of people that wanted them. Gang members sought the breed in droves. Back yard breeders began over breeding because the demand was so high. Many of these dogs were abused, abandoned and became sought after for the ring. To make them meaner they would pump them with steroids, beat them, chain them with heavy chains around their necks all day to make them stronger and force them with hours of exercise daily. It is human scum that have made Pit Bulls the problem. The monsters are humans not these wonderful animals. Joe R why don't you add the most savage of those animals to your list, humans.

The Pit Bull story repeats in a 1/2 hour at midnight tonight on Nat Geo Wild with Cesar Millan.

yes, Liberalism IS a mental disorder -- I heard a psychiatrist on the news discuss his book - it wasRead More his findings that over 90% of mentally sick patients all blathered liberal rants. Leftist philosophy is all emotion, while conservative is logical.

Great comment Mike. Along those lines, we must be "good" for the sake ofRead More "goodness" not reward or punishment. A personal commitment to continue humanity assures our civilization and allows us to "go on".
Linda Maloney April 15, 2014 at 02:32 pm
So agree with both of the above comments! Yes, Mike great leaders have always had many followers,Read More but so did many evil leaders (Hitler, Stalin, etc.)! Yes, Joan, we have to try to be good for goodness's sake! I truly believe kindness , generosity and compassion for others is contagious, we just see a lot less around lately! We must not look for other's approval when we do good but we must thank others when we see them doing so!

Agreed but the problem we are running into here is at the end of the tragedy, you are told the dogRead More belongs to the child (usually a teenager) and the parents refuse to take any responsibility at all. Even to the extent of telling authorities themselves to put the dog down. It's disgusting the measures some take to avoid responsibility and get away with it! You are correct the laws are there for the law abiding citizens, the rest couldn't careless.
Jack Baillargeron April 16, 2014 at 04:57 pm
Doesn't matter, If the teen lives in the home or one the parents property they are responsible.Read More Their home owners insurance company can be sued as well. Putting the dog down does not negate the incident. It is like destroying the knife used to stab somebody. The stabber is still responsible. I am not a lawyer or anything like that but read enough cases and know enough victims as a Retired firefighter to know you can win on these things easily. Might not be able to get money from some of these people but you can get them banned from being able to own an animal again at the least in my opinion.
Jack Baillargeron April 16, 2014 at 05:05 pm
Would point out also that is the reason for getting leash law or town ordinances. They merely stateRead More the rule and have no age limitation. I have seen children walking a 40lb dog as young as 8 to 10. There is no way they could control that dog unless the dog has been very well trained along with the child being trained so the dog will obey it. Problem with society right now is that no one takes self-responsibility for their own action anymore (well any criminal activity or incidents like this). Idiot owners like to blame the dog also to negate their responsibility. Start throwing them in jail with sentences they would give to a person for doing what the dog does and you would have deterent. But there will always be some excuse. It sickens me to no end.
