The weekend was an eventful one in the area, with two festivals taking place on Long Beach Island, Manahawkin celebrating Founders Day and Barnegat opening up its fields on Lower Shore Road. We are bringing a special feature to you guys today. We are dedicating this day entirely to the coverage of life at the Barnegat High School. The relatively small, relatively new school has become a part of the local community since 2004 when Barnegat started its official separation from the Southern Regional High School District. On the heels of a busy township committee meeting last night, we have a lot to share in the next few days. We will start today with a presentation by the township officials of the bond rating review process Barnegat has gone through and its impact on cost of debt and the overall budget. The Planning Board adopted a resolution last night requesting the Township Committee to declare Shoreline Sand and Gravel, a contracting and mining operation site to be an area in need of redevelopment.
