Dear Editor: I read with dismay the letter from Anita Carbonara of Heritage Point regarding political signs in communities regulated by rules of a Homeowners Association.  No one is interested in squelching Ms. Carbonara's freedom of speech. I recently moved into a 55 and over community, Heritage Point in Barnegat. I‘m an activist for the Democratic Party and want to do everything I can to get our president re-elected — and that includes displaying campaign signs on my property. I made a request to the management company at Heritage Point to be able to place these signs on my property in support of President Obama. They went to the Board of Trustees who ruled that this would not be allowed and they vetoed my request. To the Editor: As Congress considers legislation to reform the business model of the Postal Service, it must confront a basic choice: to permit the Postal Service to function more as a business does, or constrain it from doing so. With greater business model flexibility, the Postal Service can return to profitability and financial stability. A flexible business model would speed product and pricing decisions, enable a five-day per week delivery schedule, and permit the realignment of mail processing, delivery and retail networks to meet lower mail volumes.  It would also allow the Postal …
To the editor:  A few days ago, the Freehold Borough Town Council voted unanimously to bar taxpayer-funded healthcare benefits for all Council members. This was a courageous action. It cost each Council member a considerable sum of money. Unemployment, decreased property values and everything else that puts pressure on some Barnegat residents inflicts the same cumbersome burdens on people who call Freehold Borough home. There are numerous homes for sale there just like there are here. And, just like in Barnegat, many of those homes have been abandoned by people who saw the American dream …
