About this column:

Posted on Sundays, "Pet of the Week" features a new adoptable animal each week from the Southern Ocean County Animal Facility at 360 Haywood Road in Manahawkin. For more information, contact the shelter at (609) 978-0127.
Here is the latest from the Manahawkin animal shelter: James is all dressed up, does he have somewhere to go? Hopefully home with you! Handsome James is a tuxedo cat who looks likes he's ready to attend a black-tie affair. His manners are just as good as his looks, so don't thinks it's all show. James loves to play, watch everything that's going on in the cat room, chase sunbeams and be a happy boy. If you're looking for a wonderful, good looking and all-around great cat. Please come down to the shelter and meet our charmer James. James is up to date on his vaccines.
Here is another cutie from the Manahawkin animal shelter: Lou is quite the cat! Hear what the volunteers in the cat room have to say about him: "He's very sociable, loves people and other cats and is a great guy. We hope a wonderful person adopts this terrific cat soon." Lou was recently surrendered by someone who could no longer care for him due to financial reasons. They left a note saying that Lou is good with other cats and kids, and enjoys being part of a family. He's three-years-old and very mellow with an exceptional personality. Come down to the shelter and meet this boy, he's on the …
Here is the latest from the Manahawkin animal shelter: What a beautiful girl! Pocohontas is 1 to 1-1/2 years old. She has quite a bit of energy, but she is still a youngin! She is very friendly and loving, and with a good walk or a little exercise, she settles right down. She would do best in a home with someone who has the time to train her because of her young age. She's a real sweetie-pie! Come and meet her, especially if you need a walking partner. Pocohontas is up-to-date on all her shots and microchipped. To adopt, you must bring in any other dogs that you may have to meet ours and also…
Here is the latest from the Southern Ocean County Animal Facility in Manahawkin: This cutie pie was found as a stray and is such a good boy! He loves to be petted and loves attention. He knows sit, come, stay, and down. So-Co loooooves belly rubs and will roll over especially for them! He is a well-mannered, mellow guy looking for his furever home. To adopt, you must bring in any other dogs that you may have to meet ours and also provide us with proof of homeownership or a renter's policy that states you are allowed to have a dog. So-Co is house-trained and up to date on his routine …
Here is the latest from the Southern Ocean County Animal Facility in Manahawkin: Miss Kitty is about as sweet as a cat can be! She's a young girl, under a year old, and loves to purr, play, and have her soft fur petted. If we were to rename her, it would probably be to "Sweetie Pie." She was surrendered by someone who could no longer care for her, but Miss Kitty is looking forward to starting her new life with a loving family who will give her all the kindness and attention she deserves. Please stop by the Manahawkin Petsmart store and meet our wonderful, pretty and sweet Miss Kitty. Miss …
Here is the latest from Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter: Sugar-ree was a happy family pet for all of her six years, but last month her family was forced to move into a no-pet apartment and had to leave Sugar-ree behind. She was adopted as a kitten and has lived with kids and babies, always being a very good and gentle girl. Sugar-ree is just as sweet as her name implies! She is waiting and hoping someone will fall in love with her again, just as her family did when she was a kitten, and take her into their home and heart. Everyone deserves a second chance in life, can you give that …
