Annual Ride for Hope Starts in Lacey on Sunday

The 80-mile ride to assist individuals with disabilities departs at 11 a.m. and returns to Applebee's in Forked River for an after party at 1 p.m.

Supporters of Easter Seals New Jersey, an organization that aids individuals with disabilities and special needs, will be participating in the fourth annual Ride for Hope and poker run on Sunday, Sept. 9.

The event begins with registration at 9 a.m. at Applebee’s on South Main Street in Forked River. The 80-mile ride through the Pine Barrens departs at 11 a.m. and returns to Applebee’s for an after-party at 1 p.m.

“Individuals who don’t ride a motorcycle are really encouraged to come out for the after-ride festivities,” said Donna Nelson, coordinator of Easter Seals’ group home for people with developmental disabilities in Manchester.

The after party will include a bike show, vendors, a barbecue, live music, prizes, a gift auction, 50/50, a cash bar, on-site poker game and more.

“It’s an opportunity for families of all ages in the community to enjoy a great time while supporting Easter Seals’ mission to provide the best quality of life possible for people with all types of disabilities,” Nelson said.

Tickets are $25 per rider, $15 per passenger, $10 for walk-ins (non-riders) and $5 for kids younger than 18 years old. All tickets include lunch. Contact Bobby Nelson at 848-992-3907 to purchase tickets or for more information. 

All proceeds will benefit Easter Seals New Jersey and support funding for local programs and services for people with disabilities and special needs.
