A section of railing at Barnegat's municipal docks is falling apart, according to a tip from Patch Reader Jonathan Gronow.

"[There are] no screws in either end of one whole section," Gronow writes.

Michael Ball of Barnegat Public Works says that Barnegat residents can expect the hand rails to be repaired today.

"We were waiting for the engineer, and we had to put in a purchase order," Ball said.

No accidents related to the missing handrail were reported to the  Public Works Office. They also stated that the area had been sectioned off with caution tape and cones.

wait didn't we just pay over a million after sandy to rebuild? Why are we getting more engineering and a PO? How about you have the contractor finish the job properly

It should have been inspected before the public was allowed on. There was already a serious accident when a ma fell gong down the steps when the lights were not on. He received a broken arm in several places. There was a rush to get it ready and the Town engineer should have made sure it was safe.
