Benefit At Lefty's for Barnegat Woman Affected by AML
After two trips to the doctor within a few weeks, Patty McLaughlin was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) at the end of October.
It has been been about three months since mother of three, and lifetime member of the Barnegat community, Patty (Vitrone) McLaughlin's life changed.
Assuming she had a sinus infection, she went to her doctor.
After two trips to the doctor within a few weeks, she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) at the end of October. Immediately after being diagnosed, she was admitted into the hospital to begin aggressive chemotherapy treatment.

Because of this type of leukemia, McLaughlin must have a bone marrow transplant. She is in the process of arranging her transplant now, according to her friend, Cori Forfa.
"It is going to be a long road to recovery. With help from family, friends, and our community, she will get there," Forfa said.

To help with this recovery, Forfa and others have started a foundation for their friend, and recently hosted a benefit at Lefty's Tavern.
