Toy Run Rescheduled for This Weekend

Toy Run Foundation hosts its annual motorcycle toy run on Oct. 14

Weather permitting, the Toy Run Foundation will be hosting its annual motorcycle toy run Oct. 14, 2012. It has been rescheduled from last week.

The run leaves at 12:30 p.m., traveling a 65-mile scenic route through the Pines, ending at St. Mary's Parish Center, Manahawkin, for food and drinks. 

Police motorcycle units from Monmouth, Ocean, Atlantic and Burlington Counties will escort the run, according to Waretown Sgt. Dennis Jarin.

The Toy Run Foundation has given out toys to families from Forked River, Waretown, Barnegat, Manahawkin, Cedar Run, Mayetta, Tuckerton and Long Beach Island. 

Some of the leftover toys are brought to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Family Protection Unit, which is the lead law enforcement agency that investigates crimes involving neglected and abused kids.

Run participants also bring toys to Operation Santa Claus in Fort Dix, which is the organization that distributes toys to the children of deployed soldiers. Other toys are distributed to Community Medical Center, and local charity events all year long.

Registration is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Southern Regional High School parking lot, Route 9, Manahawkin, NJ. 

Bring a Toy, a $10 value, plus $10 per person to register. Please leave toys unwrapped and no stuffed toys or animals.
