Harriet Tubman And The Underground Railroad At The Waretown Library

Harriet Tubman escaped the bonds of slavery and devoted her life to helping others do the same, leading more than 13 rescue missions through the network of safe houses known as the Underground Railroad.

Actress Lorraine Stone - dressed in clothing patterned from the era - will present Tubman’s story at the Waretown branch of the Ocean County Library at 11 a.m. on April 26. Stone, a New Jersey native who is also poet, dancer and storyteller, frequently performs for  the Dunbar Repertory Company and her own performance group, Wisdomkeeper.
