Ocean County Historical Society To Host Pound Fishing Panel



Want to see what the real Jersey Shore was all about?

Come to the Ocean County Historical Society in Toms River at 7 p.m. on May 7 for a presentation on pound fishing.

Guest speakers are Ferd Klebold, the author of Pound Fishing- Bay Head to South Seaside Park, and Phil Hart, the last living pound fisherman from Long Beach Island.

They will discuss how pound fisherman made a living from the late 1800s to the 1950s by harvesting fish from pound traps off Ocean County beaches.

Register for the event at 732-341-1880. Admission is free, refreshments are provided. The museum is located at 26 Hadley Avenue in Toms River.
