Southern Regional Graduate Debbie and Friends to Perform at Library

Program features interactive performances such as jokes, dance, games and music.

Debbie and Friends will perform at Ocean County Library’s Toms River branch, 101 Washington St., Monday March 19 at 10:30 a.m.

The group will lead children (infants to age 8) and their family on a rocking musical journey through classic kids’ tales and original songs, including “Walk Away.”  "Walk Away" appeared on the recently announced 2011 Grammy-award winning Best Children’s Album, “All About Bullies…Big and Small,” a collection of 37 songs by various artists.

“We are beyond excited,” Debbie Cavalier wrote in the band’s blog. “We’re grateful to share this amazing honor with so many artists who donated their song/track to address this important issue.”

It is the first time since 2009 that Cavalier has returned to perform in Ocean County.  The 1982 graduate from Southern Regional High School now lives in Massachusetts.

Cavalier and her band’s interactive performances include jokes, dance, games and music drawn from Broadway, rock, pop, reggae, and country. Kids will become wordsmiths, repairing fractured rhymes, and take part in the “Simon Says Song.”

The performance is free and open to the public but registration is required. Telephone the operator (732) 349-6200 or (609) 971-0514, or go the library’s Web site www.theoceancountylibrary.org for more information or to register.
