Surflight Theatre Holds Auditions for White Christmas

Auditions are Saturday, Sept. 22.

Surflight Theatre will hold local auditions for chorus roles in Irving Berlin’s White Christmas on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Beach Haven School Gymnasium, at 700 Beach Avenue.

White Christmas, with music and lyrics by Irving Berlin and book by David Ives and Paul Blake, will be directed and choreographed by Norb Joerder.

Rehearsals are scheduled to begin Oct. 29 in Beach Haven with matinee and evening performances from November 23 through December 21.

Based on the 1954 smash hit Paramount movie, White Christmas tells the story of two showbiz buddies who put on a show in a picturesque Vermont inn, and find their perfect mates in the bargain.  The show features classic Irving Berlin hits such as "Blue Skies," "Sisters," "Happy Holiday," "Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep," "I Love a Piano" and the unforgettable title song, "White Christmas."

All actors, over the age of 16, must act, sing, and move well, according to a statement from Surflight. Those auditioning should bring two headshots and resumes and prepare a two-minute monologue and/or 16 bars of music in the appropriate key.  No transposing available.

Dancers will be invited back in the afternoon (bring tap and jazz shoes). All ethnicities are encouraged to audition. For audition information, visit www.surflight.org or call 609-492-9477x208.
