Southern Ocean Chamber Reaches Out to Area Businesses
Chamber wants businesses to share any information about reopenings, sales, and attractions, so they can spread the news.
The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce and its tourism arm, the Long Beach Island Region Destination Marketing Organization (DMO), have a message for people looking to do their holiday shopping - despite the fact that remnants of Sandy remain - LBI businesses are getting back to business.
"Moving forward, it is all about spreading information that local businesses need their customers to hear" Destination Marketing Director Lori Pepenella said in a statement. "We are highlighting every business, attraction and event that puts us one step closer in bringing LBI region back to the people that love us."
Surf Unlimited Manager Matt Boyd told Patch he was happy that the Chamber was stepping in to get the word out about island businesses reopening. Boyd said that the Beach Haven location of Surf Unlimited was destroyed, but the Ship Bottom location was in much better shape, and now reopen for business.

The toughest part, he said, "is getting the word out that we're open."
Businesses and groups are invited to be a guest at a new recovery radio program the LBI Regional Report airing Mondays 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. weekly on 91.9FM WBNJ.org. Businesses are also invited to share information to spread on the LBI Region Facebook and Twitter pages or even be featured on part of the LBI Regional Report Video Series airing on LBITV.
