Barnegat Man Wanted On Numerous Drug Charges, Prosecutor's Office Says

Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and Barnegat police are looking for a Lexington Boulevard man on drug and weapons charged, Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato said.

Authorities obtained a search warrant for 2 Lexington Boulevard on June 15. When they went to the house, they seized 50 bags of heroin, a loaded Highpoint 9mm handgun and assorted 9mm ammunition, Coronato said.

They are looking for George Burke, 31, who was not at home at the time of the search warrant. Arrest warrants have been issued charging Burke with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a CDS offense and certain persons not to possess a firearm, authorities said.

Ocean County Superior Court Judge Rochelle Gizinski set Burke's bail at $150,000, with no ten percent option, Coronato said.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of George Burke is asked to contact the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Operations Group at 732-341-6150.

Assisting in the investigation as well as the execution of the search warrants were members of the Barnegat Township Police Department, the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit, Coronato said.
