Barnegat Morning Report

Good morning, Barnegat. Today is Friday, Nov. 11 – Veterans Day.

WHAT WE'RE WORKING ON:

Today brings a couple of stories we'd planned to bring you earlier in this busy news week. First, look for the latest column from Patch contributor Katia Raina, who writes on the local author scene. 

We've also got our story on the efforts of a few volunteers – including a Barnegat Girl Scout – to help out struggling pet owners with food for their dogs and cats.

Don't forget to come to downtown Gazebo Park at 11 a.m. for the township's Veterans Day ceremony. You can also find out the when and where for other local communities' events .

EVENTS AND REMINDERS:

• The Barnegat varsity football team plays Point Pleasant Borough tonight at home in a playoff game. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Come support the Bengals!

•  are closed again today as teachers attend an NJEA convention in Atlantic City.

• Toms River shows off its pride and patriotism with its annual Veterans Day parade at 9:30 a.m. today. The route begins at the Toms River Shopping Center on Rt. 37, proceeding south on Main Street (Route 166) and then east onto Washington Street. After the parade, there will be a ceremony held outside Toms River’s Town Hall at 33 Washington St. 

• The township's Veterans Day ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at Gazebo Park at the northeast corner of Route 9 and Bay Avenue.
