Good morning, everybody. Today is Tuesday, Dec. 7 – Pearl Harbor Day.

 

WHAT WE'RE WORKING ON:

First thing this morning, look for our update on local toy drives. Several local organizations are asking residents to pitch in to help give needy families in Barnegat and beyond a great holiday.

We'll also be heading out to take photos at today's Pearl Harbor Day memorial ceremony at the high school later this morning, and we'll share those images right away.

EVENTS AND REMINDERS:

  • UPDATE: The Barnegat VFW's Pearl Harbor Day memorial ceremony, scheduled for 10 a.m. at the , has been relocated. The event will now take place at 11 a.m. in the auditorium at .
  • The lighting of the official Ocean County Christmas tree will be at 4:45 p.m. today outisde the Ocean County Administration Building (101 Hooper Ave, Toms River). World War II Pacific Theater veterans will join the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders in the ceremony. There will also be a performance by a local elementary school choir. 

 

WEATHER:

Another damp day ahead. There's still some chatter about snow in the higher elevations in the western part of the state, but there's just about zero chance of it here. 

  • Today: Rain. High near 59. North wind between 10 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. 
  • Tonight: Rain, mainly before 5 a.m. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 39. Breezy, with a north wind between 11 and 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
