Five Things Happening This Week

Here's a look at some upcoming events in Barnegat Township.

• restaurant in downtown Barnegat is holding a fundraiser for the Barnegat High School Dance Team from 5 p.m. to close Monday night. Order dinner and let the restaurant know you're there for the fundraiser, and some of the proceeds will go to support the girls. The team got its first bid to a national competition in Florida this year, and is raising money to make the trip possible.

• The PTO meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the high school.

• At 7 p.m. Tuesday at the , hear an opera singer share her love of music in "Naomi Madden: A Voice with Wings." Madden, a Stockton College student dreaming of a recording career, will perform songs in a range of styles, from classic to modern pop.

• The holds its monthly book discussion at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The read this time around is Lion in the White House, a biography of Theodore Roosevelt by Aida DiPace Donald.

• Need something fun to do with the kids this weekend? The Ocean County Mall in Toms River is hosting a summer-centric "Winter Beach Blast" from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, with free music, games and crafts.
