Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge Closes Due To Government Shutdown
A planned cleanup of Holgate has been cancelled, as well as activities at deCamp Wildlife Trail, Barnegat observation platform, and the Wildlife Drive.
Several activities that had been planned at the Edwin B. Forsythe Refuge have been postponed or canceled due to the government shutdown.
For programs experiencing a lapse in appropriate funding, only limited functions will continue, according to a prepared statement.
Canceled or postponed activities due to the shutdown include a scheduled October 5 cleanup at the Holgate portion of the refuge on Long Beach Island, according to the statement.
Also closed will be deCamp Wildlife Trail in Brick Township, the Barnegat observation platform in Barnegat Township, and Forsythe's Wildlife Drive in Galloway, as well as the refuge visitor information center headquarters, and Scott's Landing boat launch.
Planned activities that have been canceled or postponed include Friday birdwalks, campfire sing-alongs, archery programs, and other events.
