PHOTO GALLERY: Progress in Holgate, But Much Work Remains
Boil water advisory now lifted.
Long Beach Island officials noted that the boil water advisory is now lifted in the Holgate section of Long Beach Island, but as the pictures above note, there is still much work to do before Holgate can fully recover.
On the Emergency Management Coordinators Joint Command website, island officials suggested that residents:
- Run water faucets for 3-5 minutes to flush interior plumbing.
- Empty and clean automatic ice makers and water chillers.
- Drain and refill hot water heater if the temperature is set below 113 degrees Fahrenheit
- Run tthe water softener/cartridge filters through a regeneration cycle
