Patch Picks: St. Patrick's Day Bars

Where to go for the wearin' o' the green

St. Patrick’s Day comes early at the shore. The parades are over, and may have already stashed your green regalia. But don’t throw in the towel just yet – the fun's just beginning! Check out our top picks on where to dine and drink today.

  • Jack and Mike’s Brickhouse, 979 Cedar Bridge Ave., Brick. An all-around good time, the Brickhouse offers a full menu and has a spacious bar. For St. Patty’s Day they’ll be serving corned beef and cabbage for $12.99, and will also be pouring out green beer. At 4:30 p.m., the bagpipers will take the floor, followed by Matt Noffsinger at 9 p.m.
  • Klee’s, 101 Boulevard, Seaside Heights. Among the of beer-drenched bars and clubs on the Seaside strip, Klee’s has managed to uphold its image as a great neighborhood bar. A great, Irish-influenced place to meet friends and have a beer – simple and easy. So if you’re looking for a casual way to spend your St. Patty’s Day, look no further.
  • McIntyre’s Pub, 213 Route 37 East, Toms River. If the name doesn’t give it away, this place aims for authentically Irish. More than just a pub, McIntryre’s is a full-scale music venue and restaurant as well. Opening their doors at 11 a.m., the bar will have live music all day, including bagpipers beginning at 8 p.m.  Of course, there will be drink and food specials as well, and “a hundred thousand welcomes.” Locals, this is your place to be.
  • Wolfie’s Diner, 199 Route 37 East, Toms River. If you’re looking for a traditional spot to celebrate by eating Irish without all the mayhem of a night at the bar, nothing beats giant corned beef reubens and a St. Patty's special menu at a Jersey diner. Plus, you'll be serenaded with Irish songs as patrons offer up their ballad-singing skills while strolling table to table.
  • Lefty’s Tavern, 547 N. Main St., Barnegat. This neighborhood hangout is going Irish on Thursday and offering up corned beef and cabbage, traditional Irish stew and $3 Guinness pints.
