Quebec Man, Passenger Badly Injured In Rt. 72 Motorcycle Accident

Two people were injured in a motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon when the driver lost control of his Harley Davidson and veered down the center lane of the roadway, police said.

Sylvain Morin, 55, of Val Morin, Quebec, was traveling westbound near mile marker 21.7 when the accident occurred at 2:54 p.m., police said.

Morin applied his brakes as traffic was slowing down for a light ahead. Both he and his passenger Josee Turgeon, 49, also of Quebec, sustained "significant" injuries in the accident, police said.

Morin was taken by helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Turgeon was taken to Southern Ocean County Hospital in Manahawkin, said police.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident. Route 72 westbound was diverted into one lane for approximately thirty minutes. Anyone with information regarding the accident is asked to contact Patrolman John Morrin at (609) 597-1189 ext. 8445.
