Extended day services will be available at Stafford on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2.

Stafford schools will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 1st and 2nd, but administrators will be offering extended-day services for all district students from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for $30. Half day is also available from 7:30 to 12 or 12 to 4:30 for $15. A cold lunch will be provided.

Students are encouraged to bring handheld electronic devices, board games, etc, and Stafford parents are asked to call 609-839-9995 with questions.

Barnegat Township schools will be closed through Friday.

Meanwhile, all of Cedar Bonnet Island, Mud City, Mallard Island and the following areas of Beach Haven West are temporarily restricted to safety personnel.

  • All areas of Mill Creek Road east of Charles Blvd
  • All areas south and east of Marsha Drive
  • All areas south of Morris Blvd.

Gas, electric, fire, building inspectors and police are determining the safety of this area. As soon as streets are deemed safe, admittance for homeowners will be posted on: www.StaffordNJ.gov

Teams of fire personnel and building inspectors are currently surveying these areas, and notice will be given once these areas have been deemed safe for general public access, police said.

Many traffic lights along Route 72 and other roads throughout town continue to be inoperable. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution when travelling through affected intersections.

Regular garbage collection resumed today to areas of downtown Manahawkin and the Ocean Acres sections of town.

The shelter at Southern Regional High School will remain open until further notice.
