Severe Thunderstorm Watch For This Morning/Afternoon

Watch out for "damaging wind gusts," meteorologists say.

A fast-moving storm system is expected to send more damaging storms our way shortly, according to the National Weather Service. A severe weather watch has been put out for southern Ocean County for this morning.

"There are storms developing basically from Western Connecticut to just southeast of Allentown, Pennsylvania, and they'll be in your area probably around 9 to 12 today," said meteorologist Walter Drag. "It could be strong thunderstorms; it could actually be severe thunderstorms."

A storm might last thirty minutes or so, followed by a break, with showers, then possibly another storm, Drag said.

Drag couldn't say if we should expect a repeat of , with lightning striking homes, flash floods and more. But we should watch out for "damaging wind gusts" and possible hail, he said.
