STORM ROUNDUP: Power to Thousands Knocked Out; More Storms Expected Wednesday

Atlantic City Electric reported outages in Manahawkin, Barnegat due to storms this past weekend

The storms, the hits and the calls keep coming.

Atlantic City Electric reported that several areas of Manahawkin and Barnegat lost power Sunday due to storms that swept through the area.

More storms are expected to hit the area on Wednesday and Thursday, according to weather.com. Some scattered thunderstorms are expected to occur after the weekend.

About 1,400 homes in the Ocean Acres section of Stafford and a smaller number of customers in Barnegat lost power between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday.

An hour later, about 1,500 customers in the Beach Haven West section of Stafford lost power until about 6 p.m., according to Atlantic City Electric spokesperson Lendel Jones.

In the Brant Beach section of Long Beach Island, about 38 customers were without power between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m.

Jones said that once all lines had been inspected for no signs of lightning damage, the power was restored.
