'Trunk or Treat' in Waretown Today, Barnegat Trick or Treating on Nov. 9
Trunk or treat event will be for people east of Route 9, who are waiting for power.
Due to safety concerns for the children and residents east of Route 9, the Township of Ocean is teaming up with the Waretown United Methodist Church to assist in their idea of "Trunk or Treat." This event will take place at the Waretown Methodist Church parking lots located at 27 Bryant Road, Waretown.
On Monday, November 5, 2012 at 5:00 p.m., volunteers who would like to participate in giving out treats are asked to come with your car/truck or a table to setup in their parking lots to give treats instead of your home.
At 5:30, p.m., children in costumes will be trick or treating from car to car to get their bag full of candy.

Barnegat police said that the Township has elected to postpone the Halloween Trick or Treat celebration to Friday, November 9, 2012 for the following reasons:
1. There are still residents in Barnegat without power.
2. Many residents had power restored Sunday night after being without electric for almost 6 days.
3. There is still a considerable amount of debris on sidewalks and along curbs and streets causing a walking hazard.
4. Township staff must remain focused on storm recovery work and start preparing the bayfront for the approaching coastal storm on Wednesday.
"The decision to postpone Halloween until Friday, November 9, 2012 was based on the safety of the community along with giving our residents the opportunity to fully recover from the storm," police wrote on their Facebook page. "Many residents are still struggling to recover from storm damage."
