Lacey Man's Ear Severed in Forked River House Fight

Lacey- A Forked River man lost a portion of his ear after a fight erupted in the parking lot of the Forked River House early Saturday morning, police said.

Police responded to the Forked River bar and restaurant at 2:55 a.m. Saturday and arrested Brian Schremmer, 24, and Curt Schremmer, 26, both of Bayville.

Fire Rips Through Shrewsbury Mansion

Shewsbury- A stately Sycamore Avenue mansion dating to 1903 went up in flames Monday afternoon in a four-alarm fire.  

"It came in around 1:15 p.m." Shrewsbury Fire Department Chief Pete Gibson said outside 469 Sycamore, where crews on ladders were dousing the roof with water.

Battered Berkeley Island County Park Needs $3 Million to $5 Million In Repairs, Freeholder Says

Berkeley- Berkeley Island County Park was already battered by time and tides and in need of "loving care" before Superstorm Sandy hit on Oct. 29.

But now the park will need more than that. Freeholder John C. Bartlett Jr. estimates it will take between $3 million to $5 million to rebuild the park off Brennan Concourse in Bayville that juts out into Barnegat Bay.

Martell's to Mayor: Stay Out!

Point Pleasant- Martell's is telling Point Beach Mayor Vincent Barrella he won't be allowed to attend the annual Chamber of Commerce Installation dinner at Martell's on Saturday night.

Barrella broke the news at the Tuesday night council meeting, as Ed Branagan, Martell's manager, and Carol Vaccaro, chamber executive director, sat in the back of the room.

PHOTOS: Casino Pier's Ongoing Reconstruction

Seaside- It's hard to see the improvement at Casino Pier following its destruction at the hands of Hurricane Sandy. But, it's what you don't see that let's you know work is being done.

The Seaside Heights attraction is nearly empty. All of the amusements and rides that remained on the pier following Sandy have been taken down, piece-by-piece, and carted away, some to storage, some to the scrap yard.
