At first there were six. Now there are three candidates running unopposed for the three, three-year terms on the Barnegat Board of Education.

Arthur Sheiken, 16 Turtle Creek Run, Scott Sarno, 7 Herkimer Court and Armando J. Quiroz, 135 Schooner Avenue are as good as elected, barring a major write-in vote.

Three other candidates filed to run earlier this year, but all withdrew, according to the Ocean County Clerk's Office. They include Christine Turchio, who withdrew on Aug. 8, Charles J. Thomas, who dropped out on Aug. 12 and Noreen M. Polo, who withdrew on June 25.

Kelly G. Sawicki, 18 Teakwood Lane, is running unopposed for the one-year unexpired term. Ciro Sabatini withdrew from the race on July 24. Tracey Coleman dropped out on June 25, according to the clerk's office.
