One Season Ends & Another Begins

The recent news of the 2013 hurricane season being over has come and gone. Most of us really didn't care nor probably didn't even pay attention to it. Even if 100 Nor'easters came we still would not likely have batted an eye. How could we? We are all still numb from Sandy. Of course I can go on and on how FEMA, the insurance companies, the state of NJ and now even our County has joined the likes of all talk and no assistance, but I am so tired of it. Still displaced, still fighting daily with each of those I mentioned, and still trying to get a home restored we trudge on, in fact we are all trudging on. Recently I had the opportunity to take a few days off during thanksgiving. I packed up and headed to PA. for a 3 day retreat. I thought, ahhh, the first of December. The air was clear and cold, and the thought of Christmas and the season filled my mind the entire weekend. We hiked and really had a chance to leave our troubles back here in NJ. As the weekend closed I was thankful of the holiday, the days I had off and the retreat I'd been on. I thought in time we'll be back home and in our house. Then I saw what I really love about this time of the year, Christmas trees and what they mean to me. What Christmas is really all about, family time, and most importantly my faith. Faith, something I really had to rely on immensely this past year. As I drove onward home on Sunday I noticed a car carrying a tree atop their car, and thought, I can't wait to be in our home again and have our own tree. Be with our own family in one spot under one roof. Then all the thoughts that have kept me awake every night since October of last year came rushing back to me. Anxiety and anger and all the emotions that have encompassed us. In that moment I again realized that we will never be the same regardless of what get's built, restored or re-purchased. Yes one season ends and another begins.
