John 'Jack' J. Sweeney Of Barnegat Dies At 91

John "Jack" J. Sweeney, 91, of Barnegat passed away Saturday at Hampton Ridge in Toms River, with his loving family at his side.

Jack worked in advertising in New York City for 25 years. He was an account executive with the William Esty Agency and later worked 10 years for the Federal government. Upon moving to Barnegat, he worked part-time for the Marion Security Agency.

An avid sportsman, his greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren and great grandchildren, whose sporting activities he was sure to attend, as well as being proud of their accomplishments.

Jack was a member and Past Commander of the VFW, Bloomfield and the American Legion. He was also a member of the Pheasant Run Golf Club with whom he played until 91 years of age, and a volunteer for hospice and Ken's Kitchen.

Surviving are his beloved wife Alice; four children, Patricia (Hank), Nancy (Frank), Jack (Joann), Robert (Jackie); a sister, Anne (John Sullivan). He was predeceased by his parents, John and Nora Sweeney; two brothers, Michael and Hugh; four sisters, Catherine, Eleanor, Mary and Sally.

The viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat,, NJ. A Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, Barnegat. Interment will follow at Bg. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
