Muriel Eleanor Clark

AGE: 77 • Waretown

Muriel Eleanor Clark, 77, of Waretown, went to be with the Lord following a lengthy illness on Saturday, May 17, 2014.

She passed nine months after her husband, Lyle Charles Clark. They had been married for 55 years.

She was born to the late Stephen D. Horton and Clara F. Reighn Horton on Jan. 7, 1937. She was raised in Maple Shade where she was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church before retiring to Waretown at the Jersey Shore.

Muriel graduated from Moorestown High School in 1955, and has since remained very close to her friends, Ed and Sandra Blancha, Bob and Mary Torney, and Eloise and Ronald Moule.

During high school and after graduation, she worked for John P. Lippincott, Esquire at 48 E. Main St. in Moorestown and for other firms in Southern New Jersey as a dedicated legal secretary/paralegal, and did so for over 25 years.

Muriel was an avid Philadephia Phillies fan, and an active member in the communities where she resided. In Cinnaminson, where she raised her family, she volunteered at Zurbrugg Memorial Hospital in Delran. She was a former member of the Shady Ladies bowling league at Erlton Bowl.

Muriel and Lyle spent their retirement years in Waretown, where she volunteered for Southern Ocean County Hospital Thrift Shop, the Waretown First Aid Ladies Auxiliary in Waretown, and they were both longtime members of the Barnegat Beach Civic Association.

Muriel's family was her passion and delight. She enjoyed winter travels with her husband to Florida and their last big trip, to Alaska. Muriel always had fun at the Jersey Shore, especially Long Beach Island, with her three children and eight grandchildren.

Muriel is survived by her three children, Deborah L. Ryder (Robert), David C. Clark (LaNeta), and Diane E. Lynch (Francis), and eight grandchildren, Jerome M. Sheldon, Rebecca L. Connor (Nathan), Danielle C. Ryder, Naomi L. Ryder, Stephanie A. Clark, David M. Clark, Bonnie R. D'Alonzo (Dominic), Heather J. Lynch and 4 nieces and nephews, Ronald K. Mengel (Judith), Stephen R. Horton (Gail Ernst), Christine E. Alessandro (Paul), and Patricia A. Horton, and many great-nieces and nephews.

A double funeral service for both Lyle and Muriel will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2014 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 41 E. Linwood Ave., Maple Shade, NJ 08052. A luncheon reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations
